Moving & Storage Services in Houston
Summit Moving & Storage moves homes, apartments and offices across Houston, anywhere in Texas, and overseas — and stores what you are not ready to move yet. Every service below has its own page.

Not sure which service you need?
Most people start in one of six situations. Find yours, and it points at the page that answers your questions properly. If two apply — a house move with a month in storage in between — you only need to book one; we plan the rest with you.
| What you are moving | Start here |
|---|---|
| A house | [Residential Moving](/services/residential) |
| An apartment, condo or high-rise | [Apartment Moving](/services/apartment) |
| An office, shop or warehouse | [Commercial & Office Moving](/services/commercial) |
| Somewhere else in Texas | [Intrastate Moving](/services/intrastate) |
| Another country | [International Moving](/services/international) |
| Nothing yet — you need it stored | [Residential Storage](/storage/residential) |

Questions people ask before they book
Which moving service do I need?
Pick by the building you are leaving, not by the distance: a house is [residential](/services/residential), an apartment or high-rise is [apartment moving](/services/apartment), and anything with staff and equipment is [commercial](/services/commercial). Distance then decides whether it is a local move, an [intrastate](/services/intrastate) one, or [international](/services/international). Packing and storage are added on top of whichever you choose, not instead of it.
What decides the price of a move?
Four things: how much there is to move, how far it is going, how hard the access is at both ends, and how much of the packing you want done for you. Access is the one people underestimate — a third-floor walk-up, a long carry from the truck to the door, or a building that only allows moves in a booked elevator window all add hours that a same-sized house move would not. Tell us the access when you ask for an estimate and it will be a much closer number.
Is packing included in a move?
No — [packing](/services/packing) is a separate service, so you can take all of it, some of it, or none. Partial packing is common: the kitchen, wardrobes and anything breakable done by the crew, and the rest boxed by you. Unpacking at the other end is available too, and is booked separately again.
How far ahead should I book a move?
As soon as you have a firm date, because the date is what runs out rather than the capacity. The end of the month, weekends and the summer are the busiest windows in Houston, since that is when most leases turn over and most sales close. If your date falls in one of those, ask early; if it is flexible, say so, because a midweek or mid-month move is easier to schedule.
Do you move outside Houston?
Yes. We move anywhere in Texas — [Austin](/areas/austin), [Dallas](/areas/dallas), [San Antonio](/areas/san-antonio), [Fort Worth](/areas/fort-worth) and [Corpus Christi](/areas/corpus-christi) among them — and overseas through our [international](/services/international) service. Around Houston we cover [Katy](/areas/katy), [Sugar Land](/areas/sugar-land), [The Woodlands](/areas/the-woodlands), [Pearland](/areas/pearland), [Cypress](/areas/cypress), [Spring](/areas/spring) and the rest of the surrounding area.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Summit Moving & Storage is licensed and insured, and registered as USDOT 3532855 and TxDMV 009113070C. Those numbers are public — you can look up any Texas mover's registration before you book one, and it is worth doing.
What should I have ready on moving day?
Keep three things with you rather than on the truck: documents, medication, and anything irreplaceable. Beyond that, have boxes labelled by the room they are going to rather than the room they came from, clear a path to the door, reserve the elevator or the parking if your building needs it booked, and make sure someone who can make decisions is reachable at both addresses.
